Stainless Steel Introduce
Incoloy Alloy 890 is a high-performance corrosion-resistant alloy that belongs to the chromium-nickel-molybdenum series of alloys. It is mainly composed of nickel, chromium, molybdenum, iron, and copper. This alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in various corrosive environments such as acids, alkalis, and salt solutions.
Incoloy Alloy 890 offers high mechanical strength and toughness, good weldability, and ease of fabrication. It is resistant to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, making it suitable for use in harsh and demanding applications in industries such as chemical processing, oil and gas, and marine engineering.
The chemical composition of Incoloy Alloy 890 typically includes 26-30% nickel, 19-23% chromium, 4-5% molybdenum, 1.5-3% copper, 0.3% maximum carbon, 2.0% maximum manganese, and 0.5% maximum silicon. It may also contain small amounts of other elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur.
In terms of mechanical properties, Incoloy Alloy 890 has a tensile strength of 620 MPa and a yield strength of 300 MPa at room temperature. Its elongation at break is 50% minimum. The alloy also has good impact strength and fatigue resistance at both room temperature and elevated temperatures.
Incoloy Alloy 890 can be heat-treated to enhance its mechanical properties. Annealing at 1093-1204°C for 30 minutes per 25mm of thickness followed by rapid air cooling can improve the alloy’s toughness and ductility. Solution annealing at 1093-1177°C followed by rapid water quenching can improve its corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength.
Overall, Incoloy Alloy 890 is a versatile and high-performance alloy that can withstand corrosive environments and harsh operating conditions. Its excellent properties make it suitable for use in various industrial applications where high strength and corrosion resistance are required.
